Lenten Charities - Our Daily Bread - Our Daily Bread is celebrating their 25th anniversary. It is a ministry of hospitality in Over-the-Rhine which serves about 500 meals daily to the poor and homeless. They also provide social workers to help the residents with daily issues that may arise. During Lent, we will be collecting the following items for Our Daily Bread: soap, deodorant, toilet paper, paper towels, tissues, toothpaste, shampoo, throat lozenges, Dawn liquid dish soap, 55 gallon garbage bags, chicken and beef broth, salad dressing, pudding, pasta sauce, sugar, and adult socks. Place all items at St. Joseph's altar. Collection for this Lenten charity will cease March 29th, 2010. Thank you to everyone who has made a donation.
Days of Fast and Abstinence - Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are days of fast and abstinence. Fridays throughout Lent are days of abstinence. Fasting binds all Catholics from their 18th to 59th birthdys. Abstinence binds all Catholics 14 years of age and older.
